What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of more than a hundred naturally-occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, it does not produce a high.

How CBD works in the body

CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system — a network of receptors, enzymes, and signaling molecules that helps regulate sleep, mood, appetite, pain perception, and immune response.

Rather than binding tightly to cannabinoid receptors the way THC does, CBD works indirectly, influencing several other pathways involved in inflammation, anxiety, and neurotransmitter balance.

What the research shows

The strongest clinical evidence for CBD is in specific seizure disorders, where a prescription formulation is FDA-approved. Research into anxiety, sleep, and chronic pain is promising but still evolving — most over-the-counter CBD claims are not FDA-evaluated.

Full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate

Full-spectrum contains the plant's full cannabinoid and terpene profile, including trace THC. Broad-spectrum removes the THC while keeping other compounds. Isolate is pure CBD. Each has trade-offs for effect, taste, and drug-test considerations.
